How to Care for Your Invisalign Aligners (Without Ruining Them)
The Smile Studio Team·May 10, 2026·4 min read
Daily cleaning routine
Rinse your aligners every time you remove them, and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush (no toothpaste — it's abrasive and can cloud the plastic). Once daily, soak them in a dedicated cleaning solution or lukewarm water with a denture-cleaning tablet.
What to avoid
Never use hot water, which can warp the aligner's fit. Avoid colored mouthwash, which can stain the clear plastic, and never eat or drink anything but water while wearing them.
Staying on schedule
Wear time (20-22 hours/day) is the single biggest factor in staying on your projected treatment timeline. Keep your aligner case with you at all times so removing them for a meal doesn't turn into hours of accidental non-wear.
